The County Council is starting roadworks on Rosemead Drive from Monday 12th February for 5 weeks. The road surface is increasingly worn so the road is going to be resurfaced, the concrete speed bumps replaced with rubber-coated ones and white lines repainted.
This will involve some closures to the road between Briar Walk and Wigston Road, although the road will not be closed for the whole time.
Shipston Hill will also be restricted for 2 weeks from 19th February to allow plant storage whilst the Rosemead Drive works are going on.
Leicestershire Highways have written to affected households, with the letter explaining, “The road closure and our works will commence at 07:30 to approximately 17:30 on the affected days.
“Please note that when the concrete speed cushions are being removed and for any work carried out on weekends these working times will vary. If you anticipate the need to leave the road without delay in the morning please ensure that your car is off your drive and outside of the works area before 7:30am.
“We will endeavour to provide access to your property/business, although restrictions will need to be in place for long periods of the working day to protect the workforce & prevent damage to freshly laid hot surfaces. Please ensure suitable provisions are in place to avoid the restriction between the times stated above.”
You can view a copy of Leicestershire Highways’ letter to local residents and a plan with the diversion.
Some residents have expressed concern about access to their homes on Rosemead Drive. If possible, please follow the above advice but if you have particular concerns please contact Leicestershire Highways directly using the details in the letter.
Residents of nearby roads have also pointed out that there may be increases in traffic using neighbouring roads that are usually quieter. Again if you experience very high amounts of traffic, please contact Leicestershire Highways. Concerns about speeding should be sent to the Leicestershire Speed and Safety Scheme on this form. There are also details of how you set up a Community Speed Watch to monitor a problem.
