Note that black “general waste” bins can be used from the start of June. Collection days may change for some residents. Please check the Council’s web site for more information.

May Bank Holiday Garden Waste Collections

As was the case for Easter Monday, Oadby St.Peter’s residents who would usually have a garden waste collection tomorrow (May Bank Holiday Monday) will have it collected later this week between Tuesday 7th and Friday 10th May.

You’ll need to make sure your garden waste bin(s) is at the edge of your property each day by 7am until it has been emptied.

Did you know that it was a Liberal MP, John Lubbock, who kick-started the introduction of Bank Holidays?

The idea was so popular that the Whit and August Bank Holidays were nick-named “Saint Lubbock Days” after his 1871 Act brought them in.

Tomorrow’s May Bank Holiday has only been in effect since 1978.

Thank you!

We’d both like to say a thank you to everyone who voted and helped in the Borough election for St. Peter’s on Thursday.
