Can I recycle wrapping paper?

Many residents will have wrapping paper and extra packaging to recycle at this time of year.

Plain wrapping paper should go in your brown lidded green recycling bin, but remove all ribbons and bows, string, sticky tape and gift tags first. Shiny metallic and laminated gift wraps aren’t recyclable and should go in the general waste.

Bubble wrap and clean cling film/ cellophane are also accepted.

Oadby and Wigston Borough Council have produced a guide to how to dispose extra waste at Christmas https://www.oadby-wigston.gov.uk/files/documents/disposing_of_christmas_waste_guide/Recycling%20at%20Christmas.pdf

Full details are here: https://www.oadby-wigston.gov.uk/pages/recycling_faqs

Refuse and Recycling Collection Days

Don’t forget refuse and recycling collection times change over Christmas and New Year. Dates are here https://www.oadby-wigston.gov.uk/pages/refuse_and_recycling_collections_over_the_bank_holiday

These include “double collection days”. If your changed date is one of these, you can leave up to three extra black bags of general waste next to your black wheelie bin.

Oadby Tip

The Oadby tip/ household waste site (operated by Leicestershire County Council) is closed on the Bank Holidays so should be open from 9am to 4pm on Saturday 28th to Tuesday 31st December and back to usual hours on Saturday January 4th.
